Periodontics

Periodontics is an area of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of the gum and bone that hold teeth in place. Periodontists are experts at recognizing such gum disorders as gingivitis, an infection of the gums, and the more destructive gum disease known as periodontitis. Some of the more common treatments a periodontist might provide include: cleaning and scaling teeth to remove harmful substances called plaque and tartar; prescribing medicines like antibiotics and special mouthwashes; and for more severe dental problems, oral surgery.

Periodontic Diseases include gingivitis (inflammation of the gums), parodontitis (inflammation of the tissue of the parodontium, accompanied by a change in the structure of the bone tissue and formation of pathological dentogingival pockets) and parodontosis — systemic disease of the parodontium.

Patients with parodontitis often complain of dentogingival pockets and dental plaque. They are disturbed most frequently, however, by such problems as inflammation, bleeding, bad breath and, particularly, gum recession, causing lengthening of the necks of the teeth and related cosmetic problems. The purpose of parodontological treatment is rapid, reliable and painless elimination of these problems

One of the reasons that diseases of the parodontium progress is poor oral hygiene, specifically dental plaque. Many patients are reluctant to remove dental plaque out of fear of losing their "few remaining teeth", since, in the past, this procedure was carried out using metal instruments that could damage the teeth and gums and caused considerable pain. Since the appearance of the special VectorR system, everything has changed! Dental plaque is now removed by the painless ultrasound method.

Sphere of application
         • Initial parodontological treatment. Dental plaque, biofilm and bacteria are removed with fine instruments from the surface of the roots, right to the bottom of the periodontal pocket, without injuring the soft tissue. The surface of the roots is cleaned and polished using the special suspension Vector Fluid Polish. The root is cleaned, not abraded.
•Periodontic maintenance therapy. Maintenance procedures constitute part of periodontic treatment. They include simple and gentle procedures: repeat procedures involve the use of carbon-fibre instruments.

  • Gentle first-class cleaning and polishing of the teeth. A distinguishing feature of the Vector system is that, thanks to indirect binding of the ultrasound energy, gentle removal of bacterial biofilm and dental plaque has become possible. At the same time, there is no injury caused to the hard tissue or the soft tissue. Thanks to the suspension, containing micro-particles, cleaning of the roots is considerably more effective.
         • Micro-invasive preparation. Preparation with the help of the Vector system is carried out without use of high temperatures and is harmless to the pulp. At the same time, there is no weakening of the enamel columns, which ensures high quality edge adhesion of subsequent restoration work.
